Native Americans preceded the first settlers to arrive in Boone Township in 1836. Over the course of history the area’s Bethlehem Church of Associate Reform Presbyterians eventually changed their name from Bethlehem to Hebron, and when the first Post Office came to the region the name Hebron finally stuck, with the official status of “Town” being granted in 1890.

Parks and Recreation
Hebron has 7 community parks maintained by the Hebron Parks and Recreation Board. Space is available at the parks for various community activities like weddings, concerts, sporting events, picnics, and festivals. The Parks and Recreation board also maintains the ice skating rink near the north water tower in front of the new water plant.
A Hebron mainstay, the town hosts an annual Soapbox Derby every summer, providing full-sized “soapbox” cars for children to enjoy racing downhill.
The Annual Anytime Fitness 5K Fun Run and Walk is free and open to all comers, and includes goodie bags and door prizes.
According to City-Data.com the median household income for Hebron homes from a 2009 study shows an income of $51,854 compared to $45,424 for all of Indiana.
