The Hobart/Merrillville area is one of the premiere shopping destinations in Northwest Indiana. The Westfield Southlake Mall features over 169 regional and national chain retail shop, restaurants, and big box department stores. Shop Abercrombie & Fitch, Aeropostale, Footlocker to name a few. You’ll also find the standard department stores like JC Penny, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Sears and more. And don’t forget when you get hungry to stop by Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s, Olive Garden, Red Robin…At Southlake Mall there’s something for every fashion taste, as well as for every taste bud.
Parks and Recreation
The city of Hobart has 21 public access parks and recreational areas. Facilities around town include baseball/softball fields, basketball courts, shelters for picnics and gatherings, playground equipment, tennis and volleyball courts, fishing, and horseshoe pits.
Doughboy Monument at 7th & Main St. was rededicated in 2002 as a monument to veterans of foreign wars.
Festival Park on Old Ridge Rd. is 11.5 acres featuring a good old fashioned Revelli Bandshell, covered bridge, Community Center, fishing, lake area with canoe launch, and wetland restoration area.
The Deep River Park is great for outdoor weddings, and features a historic 1830’s sawmill and other historic buildings, an interpretive staff, recreation and picnic areas and shelters.

Schools, Health, Transportation
St. Mary Medical Center is on S Lake Park Avenue in Hobart. Additional hospitals and medical centers near Hobart include the Methodist Hospital in Gary, the Franciscan St. Anthony Health Center in Crown Point, and the Pinnacle Hospital, also in Crown Point.
The closest Amtrak stations are located in Dyer on Sheffield Rd, and at the Hammond-Whiting Station in Hammond on Calumet Ave.
