A Typical Day in the Life of a Realtor

A typical day in the life of a realtor is full of a variety of tasks and to-dos, all of which can change on a day-to-day basis. One of the great things about being a realtor is that no two days ever look exactly the same, and that there are multiple different things to do daily—you never get bored! 

  • Morning. A typical morning might involve making cold calls to people who are thinking about selling a home or reaching out to prospective clients via phone or email. Generating leads is a big part of a realtor’s business. The morning can also be a great time to take care of administrative tasks, put together contracts, or do some market research.
  • Afternoon. Afternoons can vary significantly depending on the time of year and what’s in the pipeline. It might involve showing homes to prospective buyers or hosting open houses for clients who are selling their homes. Or, it could involve working with a professional photographer to take photos or stage a home to get it ready to sell. This may also be a time when you’re negotiating contracts or putting together purchase agreements. 
  • Evening. Evenings are often less busy than mornings and afternoons for realtors. The end of the day might involve doing some self-promotional work, such as building up a social media account.
