Neighborhoods in Cedar Lake

Because Cedar Lake is already so small, it doesn’t have distinct, separate neighborhoods with their own names as bigger cities do, such as Chicago. That being said, there are a variety of different residential subdivisions within the area. According to the Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce, residential subdivisions in Cedar Lake include:

  • Beacon Point
  • Centennial
  • Krystal Oaks
  • Lakeside
  • Deer View
  • August Oaks
  • Ledgestone
  • Lynn’s Way
  • Monastery Woods
  • Muir Woods
  • Summer Winds
  • Winding Creek 11
  • Robin’s Nest
  • Wicker Meadows

There are also a couple of proposed residential subdivisions in the works! The above neighborhoods are served by either Crown Point Community Schools or Hanover Schools, depending on location. The Krystal Oaks and Lakeside Developments are served by Center Township Schools.

What to Look for in a Cedar Lake Neighborhood

As you begin your hunt for the perfect home in the best neighborhood in Cedar Lake, what makes a neighborhood the right one for you will depend on your family size and age, preferences, and lifestyle. Some things to think about are:

  • Do you have kids? If so, you surely want to be in a neighborhood that’s served by a high-quality school district. You also likely want to be located near other families with children.
  • Do you care about outdoor recreation opportunities – something that may be especially important if you have children or pets? If so, a neighborhood within walking distance of one of Cedar Lake’s parks, such as Potawatomi Park, may be a plus.
  • Do you want a new home, or an existing home? If you want something brand new or built within the last decade, you’ll need to focus your searches on one of the more recent residential subdivisions. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a fixer-upper, you may choose a little bit older neighborhood in Cedar Lake.
