Local Impact

Give Where We Live

Giving back is second nature to Jana Caudill and her team and after a grueling year for many, we set out to make MORE of an impact locally.  In November of 2020, we launched our Give Where We Live Program to better support the communities in which we serve. This philanthropic program allows our buyers and sellers to choose a local non-profit and with their sale our team then donates a percentage of our earned commission on their behalf.  We’ve suggested charities that exceed community standards in areas such as animal advocacy, education, domestic violence awareness, but with each closing we are seeing our efforts reach far and wide.

Organizations We’ve Supported

  • St. Jude House | Crown Point
  • All Breed Rescue Angels | Northwest Indiana
  • Northwest Indiana Cancer Kids | Northwest Indiana
  • Bethel Church Food Pantry | Cedar Lake
  • Portage Township Food Pantry | Portage

  • Crown Point Neighbors Helping Neighbors – Crown Point

Neighbors Helping Neighbors: It All Started With a Truck

In early 2020, Jana Caudill and her team saw an increasing need for support of many kinds throughout Northwest Indiana as businesses and families dealt with an unprecedented economic downturn. With our team’s Free Moving Truck not in use, Jana quickly seized an opportunity to help her neighbors.  With some help from Crown Point mayor Dave Uran, the company moving truck was parked near the downtown CP Courthouse, and donations of non-perishable food items started pouring in.  There was an outpouring of people in the community looking for an avenue to help those in need, and Jana created the Crown Point Neighbors Helping Neighbors Facebook Group as a way to organize the efforts and its volunteers.  Neighborhood leaders stepped in to place collection bins in front of their own homes and businesses. From there, the campaign took off quickly as residents across the region reached out to ask how they could participate. Membership jumped into the thousands, and with it, our ability to help our neighbors grew also. Our group partnered with local restaurants to help provide hundreds of meals to healthcare workers during the pandemic while also making personal connections with our neighbors, like sharing positive birthday wishes for a 107-year-old Crown Point resident. We went on to host our first virtual auction in June of 2020, benefiting numerous organizations whose fundraising efforts were diminished by the virus response and on to Cover NWI, which provided THOUSANDS of coats and blankets to those in need.  From providing Thanksgiving meals to sponsoring families for the holidays and utility assistance month after month, it has been incredible to see how far we’ve come since those early days in the moving truck.

Too often, people believe the problems around them are too complex or too big to solve, or maybe they just don’t know where to start. But even small acts of kindness can have a huge impact, creating change and helping build momentum toward reaching larger goals. This idea is at the heart of Crown Point Neighbors Helping Neighbors – contributing to positive change in our local community through acts of generosity and thoughtfulness, both large and small.

As we navigate another year and Crown Point Neighbors Helping Neighbors continues to grow, we’re excited to continue our efforts across the Northwest Indiana community and inspire us all to be a little more neighborly in good times and bad.

Cover NWI 2022 – Coat & Blanket Drive

Heading into our second season of Crown Point Neighbors Helping Neighbor’s coat & blanket drive, Cover NWI.  The idea is simple: take whatever you need or leave what you can.  With the help of the local community and all the businesses that served as collection sites last year, we distributed roughly 5,000 coats and blankets to help keep the Northwest Indiana community warm through the coldest months.  You can find a weatherproof bin outside at any of our collection site locations, and if you know of any person, school or organization that could use coats or blankets, we’ve got you covered!  Email us anytime at crownpointstrong@gmail.com or contact Director of Development Lindsey Gottschling, at 219.688.7624

We’re accepting donations to stock the shelves of their new warehouse space and to help them feed the over 600 children that rely on the Buddy Bag Program. Thank you to everyone who has dropped off so far, we are honored to be a part of such an amazing cause!

BrewsForBoobs

This fun event was organized to help support Angie Alaniz, a single mother struggling with the emotional and economic impacts of fighting breast cancer. Funds raised helped Angie keep her home and provide for her daughters while battling a terrible disease. Click on the flyer to learn more about Angie and her brave fight.

The Rally for Pink Ribbon

Our 2019 Rally, held at River Point CC in Hobart, Indiana on June 20, treated participants to a light breakfast before a fun morning of golf, and the day concluded with a luncheon and prizes. The Rally for Pink Ribbon is now in its ninth year and continues to grow, with 144 women participating in 2019.

Holiday Toy Drive

We’ve held several toy drives over the years to benefit local families in need – after all, few things can make a home feel quite as warm as the joy of a child! In 2017, we collected items for Campagna Academy, a fantastic organization that has been helping children in Northwest Indiana for over 70 years by providing safe housing, therapeutic treatment, foster care, and education.

Lake County Animal Shelter Supply Drive

The Jana Caudill Team believes our four-legged companions deserve a safe and happy home too, and so we’ve previously collected food, toys, and other supplies that we deliver to the grateful staff at the Lake County Animal Shelter. During one donation campaign in October of 2017, we collected over 20 blankets for the animals in just 21 days.

Inflatable Fun Run

This 5K event, hosted by The Giving Games, raised funds to benefit the Crown Point Police K-9 Unit. Runners made their way through several inflatable obstacles along the 5K run. Many of our team members participated along with their children and grandchildren, helping teach the importance of giving back to those around us.
