Getting to know the feel of a neighborhood is important before you buy—the last thing that you want to do is buy something without having spent enough time in the area, only to realize the culture of the neighborhood just isn’t for you. 

Know Your Budget

You may have an idea of what you can afford, but have you sat down and really poured over your finances to determine exactly how much of a home you can afford, how much you can put towards a down payment, and how much taxes and fees will impact your payments? It’s critical that you know your budget in advance so that you only look for homes that are within your price range. 

Know Your Wish List

Like knowing your budget, our realtors encourage you to get clear about your wish list for your new home, too. Is a big porch or yard a must-have? Do you need at least three bedrooms? What about garage space, or a home office? How near to the home do schools need to be, and how far are you willing to commute?
