Many folks have decided to settle down in one of these cities or towns, and we are going to look at the reasons why. The Crown Point “Square” is well-known for its shops and restaurants. Look for everything from trendy coffee shops to antique stores. At the center of the Square sits the old courthouse, a beautiful and historic building which now contains office space and shops, as well as a ballroom! Despite its modern usage, the building has been restored to its original design and includes interesting historical documents left from its days as an official courthouse. New transplants can also expect a buzzing nightlife for all ages, centering around Crown Point’s late-night bar scene.
The fairgrounds are Crown Point’s prime location for various events during the warmer months. Expect to find trade shows, flea markets, and craft fairs, all of which are excellent places to meet new friends and spend an afternoon with the family. The main event of the year — the Lake County Fair — is also held here. Bring the kids down to see monster truck racing, or sample some of the county fair food while riding the merry-go-round.
This huge facility is Crown Point’s newest attraction and is sure to draw visitors from all over. During the summer, there is a splash pad for children to cool off, along with a weekly Car Show on Thursday, and a Farmer’s Market on Wednesday and Saturday, providing the area with tasty local produce and goods. A large attached amphitheater will also feature a rotating concert series. Arguably best of all, Bulldog Park includes a full ice skating rink, making it just as fun during the long Indiana winters. All of this and more, located within a short walking distance of the Square!
For anyone who has kids, one of your top priorities is finding the best possible school for them. One huge draw for many families considering moving to Crown Point is the award-winning school district. The Crown Point School Corporation recently received the Magna Award from the National School Board Association, placing them among the nation’s elite. These schools also rank as 4-Star Schools by the Indiana Department of Education — the highest award they give out. For residents of Crown Point, there is a diverse range of locations available, providing convenient commutes to and from the school of your choice.
Crown Point is known as the “hub of Lake County” for a reason! While there is lots to do within the Crown Point area, there are also plenty of attractions within driving distance. Chicago is just 40 miles over the border, an easy commute for anyone looking forward to an exciting night on the town. For those in need of nature, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is even closer and has several beautiful sandy beaches along Lake Michigan. Finally, the d\fact that Crown Point is located just over the border in Indiana lets homeowners take advantage of lower taxes, as well as food and gas prices.
If any of these benefits sound good to you, Crown Point may be the new home you’ve been looking for! In addition to all of the points listed above, the area features a strong housing market, drawing plenty of attention from families living over the border.
